Mike RIJKEN: `Ambassador of the Rhonevalley`
After finishing his Hotel school in the south of Germany, Mike makes his first footsteps in Paris in 1983, for studyins the languages during the day and in the evening studying the wines at the Wine Academie of Steven Spurrier, close to the place Madelaine.
He works in the kitchen of a One star Michelin restaurant in Holland, but leaves as soon as he gets a place for learning about the kitchen in Burgundy.
He works two year in Restaurant "Le Montrachet" in Puligny montrachet, with Master Sommelier "Jean Claude Wallerand", being his assistant and the love for wine was born.
Capable of explaining the food and the wines for the guests that are visiting. He finds his destiny. he returns for a while back to Holland, but in 1990 he accepts to work for the prestigious domaine Château de Beaucastel as PR and Hospitality Manager.
Warm hearted and with passion, he receives the guests, lectures about soil, grapes and the wines in detail and with a lot of humour.
Representing the family Perrin abroad, leads him through Europe and USA and being a former chef, he associates wine and food very easy to make it all a bit logic for the consumer.
